SADC in power surplus

SOUTHERN Africa Power Pool (SAPP) has started undertaking a joint impact study with the Eastern African Power Pool (EAPP) to ensure smooth connection of the Zambia-Tanzania-Kenya interconnector transmission project.
During the 50th SAPP management committee meetings held under the theme ‘Leveraging on the current excess generation to promote regional interconnectivity and energy trading in the SADC region” last week, SAPP representative Sipho Mkhonta said the region has been experiencing excess power from 2016.
