RwandAir has proved beneficial

MWAPE MWENYA, Lusaka
IN recent years, there has been heightened cooperation between Zambia and Rwanda, one of the smallest countries on the African mainland which has won worldwide admiration for the way it has dealt with its affairs since the end of the genocide.
The 1994 Rwandan genocide against the Tutsi saw 1,000,000 lives lost over the course of 100 days.
Rwanda has been declared as one of the safest destinations in the world by the United Nations agencies. In fact, on December 31, 2017, the status of Rwandan refugees ended, which means that no Rwandan will be identified as a refugee in any part of the world where they had gone to seek refuge following the 1994 genocide.
Monique Mukaruliza is the first Rwandan High Commissioner to Zambia. Rwanda opened its embassy in Lusaka in 2015. In today’s column, she discusses cooperation between the two countries.
