‘Running mate good for economic growth’

FORMER permanent secretary Buleti Nsemukila says the introduction of a running mate is good for Zambia’s economic growth because it will avoid unplanned presidential elections on which the country has been spending huge amounts of money.
Meanwhile, Dr Nsemukila has urged civil society to accept the holding of the referendum at the same time as the general elections if they want the Bill the Rights to be changed.
Dr Nsemukila, a demographer, said the two presidential elections the country has held as a result of the death of sitting heads of State have had a negative impact on the country’s economic growth.
