Relaxation of teacher recruitment age good

Dear editor,
THE move by the Ministry of Education to increase the maximum recruitment age from 40 to 45 is indeed good news.
This is will give a lot of teachers who are between 40 and 45 a chance to be employed and practice. Some teachers were disadvantaged by the maximum recruitment age because they joined the profession late. These were further disadvantaged in cases where they were not selected in the immediate recruitment exercise.
Now that the maximum recruitment age has been revised upwards it is my hope that those men and women who convinced themselves it’s not too late to follow their passion by joining the profession will be embraced.
