MWALE

MUNIDE ZULU, Lusaka
THE Reformed Church in Zambia has launched preparations for its golden jubilee celebrations scheduled for next year.
Speaking during the launch, Edwin Zulu said the celebrations will mark 50 years of the Reformed Church in Zambia’s autonomous governance also referred to as Umwini, which was granted by the Democratic Republic of Congo in 1966.
Before, the Reformed Church in Zambia was governed by missionaries from the Dutch Reformed Church Free State of South Africa.
Reverend Zulu said the Umwini inaugurated a new era in the history of the Reformed Church in Zambia
And Minister of Youth and Sport Vincent, who officiated at the launch, said Government is aware of the various roles the church is playing in contributing to the wellbeing of the Zambian people through education provision in mission schools in Mambwe and Sinda.
“I am also fully aware that the Reformed Church in Zambia is also working with communities in promoting sustainable programs such as food security to supplement the efforts of the government,” Mr Mwale said.
Mr Mwale also urged the church to outgrow night clubs which he said are increasing at a fast rate.
