THE Owen Busange Sevens Championship is on today at Konkola Rugby Club in Chililabombwe with defending Champions Red Arrows
seeking to win their fourth trophy this season.
The event has attracted ten National Rugby League teams with host Konkola, Diggers and Kitwe Playing Field (KPF) entering two teams apiece.
The airmen have been pooled in Group A alongside Konkola A and Diggers B.
ARROWS v DIGGERS B
Following successes in the Zambia Rugby Union 10 aside, Mopani Copper Mines 15s and KPF American tournaments, Arrows will target bagging their fourth accolade.
The Mwamba Chishimba-tutored side lining up Terry Kaushiku, Ackim Mushota and Simon Kapindu will be eager to prove they are a team of the moment.
Arrows edged KPF 24-7 to win last year’s event.
KPF B v DIGGERS A
KPF and Diggers will renew their rivalry in Pool C.
Chibuluma are the other team in Pool C.
Diggers beat their rivals 11-10 in a league match this season and today they will be eager to give the young KPF side a good hiding.
In other pools, Mufulira, Nchanga, Green Eagles and Konkola B will battle it out in Pool B while KPF A, Nkwazi, Roan and Kansanshi will lock horns in Pool D.
Busange, a former national team player and ‘Powerhouse coach, died in a road accident in 2011 in Ndola.
