‘Reconsider removal of investment incentives’

NOMSA NKANA, Lusaka
ROLAND Imperial Tobacco Company (RITCO) has called on Government to reconsider its recent decision to remove investment incentives as this has the potential to undermine future investments in the country.
RITCO has invested US$80 million in a cigarette manufacturing and primary processing, which is under construction in the Lusaka South Multi-Facility Economic Zone.
In the 2018 budget, Government has removed all tax investment incentives.
But company chairperson Ephraim Mwenda said Government, in liaison with the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA), needs to review the decision on tax investment incentives.
