Public health services improve, extended

TO FACILITATE easy access to health services by its 1.2 million membership, the National Health Insurance Management Authority (NHIMA) has accredited 16 private health facilities to add to the existing 136 public institutions.
NHIMA rolled out its net to the private sector to enable members to have a variety of facilities to access quality healthcare.
Over 200,000 members have accessed services at accredited institutions since the scheme started in 2019.
NHIMA director general James Kapesa said in an interview yesterday that the authority will engage more private hospitals and clinics, especially in rural areas, to make access to services hustle-free.
