FORMER Ministry of Energy permanent secretary Charity Mwansa yesterday broke down after the magistrate’s court acquitted her of corruption charges.
The court also acquitted former Ministry of Energy director Charles Mulenga of the same charges.
Ms Mwansa, 63, a lawyer, and Mr Mulenga, 47, a civil servant, were alleged to have procured 24,626 litres of petrol and 26,500 litres of diesel from Trafigura Oil without following tender procedures.
It was also alleged that Ms Mwansa and Mr Mulenga stole US$9,880,411 which came into their possession by virtue of their employment.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
