Protect scribes, police urged

SHIKANDA KAWANGA, Livingstone
THE Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) has called on police to protect journalists as they carry out their duties.
IBA director-general Josephine Mapoma said journalists have a duty to inform the public on what is happening and they should not be harassed.
“It doesn’t matter whether it is the ruling party or the opposition political party perpetuating violence, it is important that media personnel are protected,” she said.
“We are appealing to all political parties to understand that the media exists to service the nation and, therefore, I appeal that you journalists are not harassed, just give them information or interviews,” she said.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm
