THE Emerald Production Watch of Zambia (EPWZ) has urged Government to prioritise the establishment of policies in 2023 which will maximise the collection of taxes in the sector.
Association president Musa Kafimbwa said in an interview that stakeholders are looking forward to seeing positive changes in the sector through establishment of policies which will ensure that the country economically benefits from the precious mineral.
Mr Kafimbwa said emerald mining has potential to finance capital projects in the country, provided that Government makes it law to maximise tax collection in the sector.
“As the new year approaches, the association wants to see the country maximising the collection of taxes in the emerald sector, which can be used to economically transform other sectors,” he said.
