Prioritise children issues, candidates urged

SITEMBILE SIWAWA, Lusaka
CHILD rights activist Henry Kabwe has appealed to candidates in next week’s presidential  election to prioritise children’s issues to ensure that Zambia’s economy and democratic process is sustainable.
Mr Kabwe who is also Media Network on Child Rights and Development executive director said in response to a press query that it is a well-known fact that children do not cast ballot but this should not make them shun away from addressing issues.
He said politicians who mean well should not just concentrate on the part of the populace that can make him/her win elections.
“The organisation was appalled that out of the 11 invited political parties to a meeting with children where they were supposed to make presentations and ask questions, only the heritage and forum for democracy and development made it,” Mr Kabwe said.
