President Lungu hailed for recognising FTJ democratic role

INDEPENDENT Churches of Zambia (ICOZ) board chairperson David Masupa has praised President Lungu for acknowledging the contribution of former President Frederick Chiluba to democracy.
On Thursday, President Lungu, who just completed his campaign tour of Luapula Province, announced at a rally that the yet-to-be-constructed Luapula University will now be called FJT University.
The President described the former President, who was fondly known by his initials FJT (Frederick Jacob Titus) as the “father of democracy”.
“President Chiluba had done a lot for our country and it is only deserving that some big projects are named after him,” Bishop Masupa said.
He said it was unfair for previous presidents to have overlooked the achievements of Dr Chiluba.
