PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema yesterday honoured 400 metres Birmingham Commonwealth Games champion Muzala Samukonga and draft player William Chinzewe with the President’s Insignia of Meritorious Achievement award for their outstanding performance in their respective disciplines. The two athletes were honoured during the Africa Freedom Day investiture ceremony at State House. Samukonga has been impressive in the last one year winning several accolades.
He won gold at the Africa Senior Championship in Mauritius before winning the same medal at the Commonwealth Games last year. Samukonga reached the semi-finals at the World Championship in Oregon, United States of America, in July last year.
