A GRADE 11 pupil at Mulemu Secondary School in Lufwanyama has committed suicide after discovering that she was pregnant.

Lufwanyama district council chairperson Moses Chiyuka and police sources confirmed the incident in an interview yesterday.
Mr Chiyuka named the girl as Miriam Mwaba of Chief Nkana’s area, who committed suicide around 06:00 hours yesterday.
Mr Chiyuka expressed sadness over the death of the girl and wondered why she took her life when Government has put in place a school re-entry policy to promote education of the girl-child.
“We found a suicide note by the deceased instructing her parents to tell her boyfriend and her sister why she committed suicide,” Mr Chiyuka said.
