Pregnancies TKO 24 girls

HENRY SINYANGWE, Kasama
ONLY four out of 28 girls at Chitoshi Day Secondary School in Lunte district will sit for the Grade 12 general certificate in education examinations this year due to pregnancies and early marriages.
School headteacher Alexander Lupupa said in an interview yesterday that 24 girls fell pregnant and some of them were married off after being impregnated.
The learning institution was upgraded to a secondary school in 2015.
Mr Lupupa said it has been difficult for teachers to monitor pupils and called for construction of a boarding house at the school.
“Over 24 girls have fallen pregnant and only four will sit for exams this year. But we are encouraging the girls to come back and sit for exams when they are ready to restart school http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
