Poor workmanship upsets PS

LUAPULA Province permanent secretary Boniface Chimbwali is concerned by poor workmanship of the construction of the Mung’omba depot on which K150,000 has been spent.
Mr Chimbwali was shocked to discover that the supplier delivered all the building materials as specified at the cost of K120,000 but local bricklayers engaged to construct the depot did a poor job and went away with K15,000.
Lunga council planner Biggie Chanda said the council withheld the remaining K15,000 because of the poor workmanship and would soon consider recalling the builder to improve the quality of works on the community structure.
But Mr Chimbwali called on the council to be proactive in pursuing people who are misusing public funds because development are intended to benefit the public and not individuals.
