Polish firm eyes silos output

ESTHER MSETEKA, Lusaka
A POLISH firm dealing in the production of silos is exploring possibilities of investing in the agriculture sector.
Polish member of Parliament Killion Munyama said Poland is optimistic that the trade ties between the two countries will help strengthen their bilateral co-operation.
Mr Munyama said in an interview recently that the firm is expected to visit Zambia in the next few months to conduct a feasibility study and discuss further with Food Reserve Agency on the project.
“So far, among the companies that have shown interest in the agriculture sector is a firm that deals in the production of silos. It is quite a big company which has been doing a lot in many countries apart from Poland and they should be coming to Zambia very soon. Otherwise there are a lot of interests in getting into other areas of agriculture by Polish firms,” he said.
Mr Munyama also said that there are other companies interested in investing in the food processing sub–sector.
“In my view, most foods that you buy in the country are processed from outside. There is need for a processing plant that will enable Zambia in partnership with other firms to produce different types of juices such as mango and pineapple,” he said.
He said it is encouraging to witness a lot of Polish firms inquiring on which sectors of the Zambian economy they can invest in.
