CHALI MULENGA, Livingstone
THE Livingstone Magistrate’s Court has sentenced a 28-year-old man of Lusaka to five years imprisonment with hard labour for stealing different types of police uniform in the tourist capital.
This is in a case in which Wallen Malambo was charged with burglary and theft.
Particulars of the offence were that on unknown dates in February this year in Livingstone, Malambo stole assorted clothes including five pairs of police uniform altogether valued at K3,530.
Sentencing Malambo, magistrate Chikoko Liyungu said her court was satisfied with the evidence presented by the State against the accused.
“I am satisfied that the prosecution has proved its case beyond reasonable doubt. I therefore find the accused guilty of the offence and convict him accordingly,” she said.
In mitigation, Malambo pleaded with the court to exercise maximum leniency on him.
