THE Zambia Police Service has warned all criminals in Lusaka to repent of crime because they will be dealt with accordingly.
Lusaka police commissioner for crime Frank Mumbuna said this yesterday when Chawama Member of Parliament Edgar Lungu received a 4×4 pick up worth K210, 000 donated to Embassy Police Post by Higer Bus Zambia Limited.
“I give a warning to all criminals that are in Lusaka that from today they should be baptised and run away from criminal activities. I would also like to make a pledge that we will work to your expectations because if we don’t, we would be betraying you and we would be worse than Judas Iscariot,” Mr Mumbuna said.
And Mr Lungu, who is Minister of Defence and Justice and also acting President, cautioned the police to handle the vehicle in the manner that befits their intention of working for the people of Chawama and surrounding areas.
“The challenge is on you police officers in Chawama Constituency to set a good example so that all others who are intending to help the community are encouraged and come to our aid. So take good care of this vehicle. If we do things properly, we will continue getting support.
“Take care of these things that are being given to us at great cost. They [donors] are sacrificing their profits; instead of eating, they are giving to us. If we show an example in Chawama, more will be inspired…,” he added.
Higer Bus Zambia Limited general manager Wu Ming said the local police is the shield of protection in the community, hence his company’s decision to support the police in protecting and safeguarding the community’s development.
“We are members of the Makeni community and myself as vice chairman of the Chinese Makeni community neighbourhood watch, I am sure the vehicle will enable the police to serve the community better. I assure you of continued supply of spares and service,” he said.
