CHOMBA MUSIKA, Lusaka
PATRIOTIC Front (PF) secretary-general Davies Mwila says the party will not protect any cadres engaging in illegal land transactions.
Mr Mwila said the PF does not support criminal behaviour, and anyone using its name to engage in criminality will face the wrath of the law.
He said the PF leadership has received reports that some cadres in Lusaka are grabbing land from innocent people using the name of the ruling party.
This is according to a statement issued in Lusaka on Friday by PF media director Sunday Chanda.
“The party will not promote such criminality by individuals identifying themselves as members of the Patriotic Front,” Mr Mwila said.
He called on police to arrest all party cadres involved in illegal land transactions.
“Political belonging does not immunise criminals from prosecution. President Lungu and the PF have made it very clear that we are a party of order and we do not support barbaric acts such as land grabbing and illegal land allocation,” Mr Mwila said.
Mr Mwila has since urged Zambians to follow procedure on land allocation and acquisition.
He called on PF district and provincial leaders to investigate the reported land grabbing by purported PF members and submit names of perpetrators to him not later than tomorrow.
“We shall not entertain criminals using the party’s name to engage in criminality. We are a party committed to serving the Zambian people with dignity,” Mr Mwila said.
