PF Mufumbwe, Manyinga bans annulled

BUTTYSON KANDIMBA, Solwezi
THE Patriotic Front provincial executive committee (PEC) in North-Western Province says the dissolution of district committees in Mufumbwe and Manyinga is null and void.
Provincial chairperson Emmanuel Chihili dissolved the committees but the party’s provincial vice secretary Charity Mulemena told journalists in Solwezi at the party office yesterday that the PEC is not in support of the decision taken by Mr Chihili.
“The provincial executive committee of North-Western Province is not in support of whatever dissolution, disciplinary action that Chihili has taken.
“We do not support that because Chihili is our provincial chairman, and a chairman sits with his committee to deliberate and make decisions. If there are any disciplinary cases, we need to sit and agree then submit our recommendations to the central committee,” Ms Mulemena said.
She accused Mr Chihili of being used by some politicians who want to contest the Kabompo East and Mufumbwe parliamentary seats on the PF ticket to allegedly dissolve the committees and appoint officials who will endorse their adoption.
“So, what Chihili has done, I think he is being used by; I don’t know who. It is not right because this time around, we need each and everyone, every vote counts and we need to embrace everyone and bring back those that are running away from us,” she said.
Ms Mulemena has since urged affected officials in Manyinga and Mufumbwe districts to continue discharging their duties and concentrate on mobilising the PF ahead of the 2016 presidential and general elections.
“So, as a provincial executive committee, we don’t support that decision and as things stand now, it is null and void,” she said.
She also called on PF members to unite and recruit more members ahead of next year’s polls to ensure President Lungu wins convincingly.
Last week, Mr Chihili dissolved the constituency and district structures in Manyinga and Mufumbwe districts for alleged misconduct.
