Petershakes and friends reunite in praise

THE story of David and Paul the Apostle in the Bible clearly defines the very essence why God must be praised and worshiped all the time, re-gardless of one’s situation or circumstances.
When David praised God with song and dance, he was simply giving thanks to his Father in Heaven, while Paul resorted to praising the Lord while in incarceration.
Both situations can be related to gospel artiste Petershakes when his praise and worship concert held on his 29th birthday turned out to be someone’s new revelation in the sight of God.
Last Saturday was no ordinary day for the former Peace Preacherz vocalist, as believers met at Prophet TL Kelvin’s More Than Conquerors Family Church at Woodlands ‘A’ School to give thanks unto the giver of life.
Because even the Bible in Psalms 150:6 says “everything that has breath must praise God,” Petershakes seized the opportunity to thank God for His mercies and grace during the more than four-hour electrifying concert.
And he was joined by some members of his former group – Peace Preacherz – 1 Matteyo Fujimori and Luis gospel minister Lawrence Chishimba and the MTC Praise Team, who all brought Heaven closer to Woodlands with their burning song and dance.
Since leaving the award-winning Peace Preacherz to pursue their own separate solo careers, the three have not sat on their laurels as they have been singing their own songs.
On that bright Saturday on January 24, the eve of his birthday, Petershakes also took time to interact with his new followers who listened attentively to his life-changing testimonies from the time his own mother passed on about 16 years ago.
But because weeping may endure in the night but joy comes in the morning (Psalms 30:5), it was not time to mourn his dear mother but to celebrate her life and that of his own which he has been using to change someone’s destiny.
As an ambassador of Christ, Petershakes, who was born Peter Kaira, has been travelling around the world to promote his debut solo album titled Isampo, a song which was inspired by the bible story of David’s ascendance to kingship.
And when he performed the song during his jampacked concert, the whole congregation sang along.
The singer went on to perform his new wedding song titled Ukwelela, although it was the songs Ingileni (a duet with Mutsara Mwale), Pa Fintu and Awesome God, from his Isampo album, which shook the family church.
Lawrence also showed just why he is a blessed minister with the song Ndesenda, which talks about reclaiming the blessings of the Lord which the devil has stolen.
Luis simply described his appearance at the event as “amazing…it was so special because I have known and worked with Petershakes for a very long time and have seen him grow spiritually and physically”.
The Copperbelt-based singer went on to perform Musunge and Ama Loving just about the same time 1 Matteyo and Oga also stepped onto the stage with their prayerful song, Pemphero.
All that began well ended well with the anointing of Prophet TL Kelvin on his own “begotten son, Petershakes.”
