People still love UPND, says Katuka

UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) says its defeat in last week’s polls is not a reflection of what will happen in 2021 when the country holds general elections because people still love the country’s opposition party.UPND secretary-general Stephen Katuka said what happened last week where his party only won a single seat, while 13 were grabbed by the ruling Patriotic Front, will not repeat itself in 2021 when people go to vote in the general election.
“People are eagerly waiting for 2021 so that they can vote properly. Voters simply boycotted the Lusaka mayoral by-election. If you critically look at it [the Lusaka mayoral by-election], what difference would it have made to vote for a UPND candidate when the entire council and central government is PF?” Mr Katuka wondered.
