PEMFA to improve expenditure

CHALI MULENGA, Livingstone
GOVERNMENT says  Public Expenditure Management and Financial Accountability (PEMFA) reforms in the public sector are cardinal to improve public expenditure management and strengthen overall financial accountability.
Ministry of Finance permanent secretary for budget and economic affairs Pamela Kabamba said this during the 2015 training in project appraisal in Livingstone yesterday.
Ms Kabamba said in a speech read for her by Livingstone district commissioner Omar Munsanje that the appraisal training sessions started in 2013 out of the need to develop a cadre of professionals who are able to evaluate government investments in projects.
Ms Kabamba said through this programme, Government has been collaborating with Duke Centre for International Development (DCID, USA), the Copperbelt University (CBU) and the National Institute for Public Administration (NIPA) with a view to institutionalising the training programme.
