Peace important for growth – First Lady

FIRST Lady Esther Lungu has implored Zambians to remain peaceful and to support President Lungu for him to develop the country.
Speaking when she addressed people at Nalusanga Secondary School in Chieftainess Kabulwebulwe’s area here on Wednesday, Mrs Lungu urged Zambians to cherish the peace that the country is enjoying.
“We have peace in Zambia which other countries don’t have. Not everything can be good because God said sometimes we will laugh, sometimes we will face difficulties,” Mrs Lungu said.
She also said President Lungu’s administration is aware of the problems that Zambians are experiencing.
Mrs Lungu said the President is trying to deliver development to all parts of the country and to improve the lives of the people.
Mrs Lungu said the head of State believes that development is for all the people of Zambia.
She said President Lungu will not segregate when it comes to apportioning resources because he is a President for all Zambians irrespective of tribe.
She said Mr Lungu is making strides to develop the country and the efforts of his administration are there for all to see.
Earlier, Mrs Lungu paid a courtesy call on Chieftainess Kabulwebulwe of Mumbwa and urged the traditional leader and his subjects to fight defilement and other vices that hinder the progress of women and the girl child.
“Defilement is a big problem that is a source of concern. Lives of many girls are being destroyed. I am asking you our mother that we should work together to help our young girls,” Mrs Lungu said.
And Chieftaincy Kabulwebulwe was happy that Mrs Lungu visited her and that her presence is as good as that of President Lungu.
“I am happy that the wife of the President is here today because when I see her, it’s like I am seeing the President. I am now a free person now that you are here,” the traditional leader said.
She also urged Government to provide relief food to some of her subjects whose crops failed because of poor rainfall.
