OVER 40 Zambians have in the last two years been arrested and convicted for illegally fishing on the waters of the Zambezi River in Zimbabwe.
Siavonga district commisoner Lovemore Kanyama told journalists on Wednesday that several Zambian fishermen from Siavonga district are serving in Zimbabwean prisons after being convicted for straying into the Zimbabwean waters.
“Last Monday, six Zambian fishermen were arrested and appeared in a Zimbabwean court for straying into the Zimbabwean waters. Two were each sentenced to eight months imprisonment, and we are yet to know the verdict of the others,” Mr Kanyama said.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
