Our god Gondwe stays

GONDWE’S tomb.

PRISCILLA CHIPULU, Masaiti
WHEN people in a certain village in Masaiti District on the Copperbelt heard that their god was to be exhumed, together with 3,000 other bodies, and reburied elsewhere to pave way for a dam, they were gripped with grief and fear.
The deity, known as Jeremiah Gondwe, is believed to be the god of the Watchtower Movement, a break-away from the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Gondwe, whose date of birth is not known by his followers, is believed to have died in 1974 and was buried near his village.
He is believed to have started his missionary works in 1923 in Kabwe, Central Province, and later opened the Watchtower Movement in Masaiti District in a village called Tunduma.
The Watchtower Movement is not registered under the Registrar of Societies because Gondwe told his followers not to register the church.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
