Only 6 percent vaccinated against Covid in Africa

ONLY about six percent of the eligible population in Africa has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 against the 60 percent target set by the Africa Centre for Disease Control (CDC) by 2022.
And Vice- President W.K Mutale- Nalumango says negatives associated with COVID-19 are a reminder for countries in the southern African region to come up with solutions to address future public health threats.
Africa CDC acting director Ahmed Ouma says the low immunisation level is due to many factors like vaccine nationalism and the lack of production of the medication in Africa.
Dr Ouma said this here yesterday at the inaugural regional ministerial consultative meeting for southern Africa.
“It is sad to know that some of the determinants of low access to vaccines in the continent are actually driven by social, political, and economic factors that require a multi-sectoral and multidisciplinary approach in addressing these gaps.
