BOYD PHIRI, Nyimba
THOSE who have not been to Eastern Province in the last few years may only remember Nyimba as just a stopover on Great East Road on the way to and from Chipata City.
But the area, which once looked like only good for buying bananas and groundnuts to take home or eat in transit, is now making a statement to attract those who may want to stay there longer.
Once a sleepy outpost, Nyimba is closing the gap between its former backwardness and modernity with a K12,579,489 million budget in place for development in the area this year.
Mrs Judith Chilombo- Beene is new Nyimba Town Council secretary and is already bubbling with confidence that Nyimba will no longer be the same.
“We picked up a project to construct a council motel. A portion of it is operational, a bar and four rooms are furnished. There are five blocks, each block has four rooms,” she says.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
