ALLOW me space in your paper to commend Chongwe local businessman and trade unionist, Misheck Nyambose, for putting smiles on many residents of Chongwe, especially women.
Mr Nyambose used his money to buy a generator for Chongwe District Hospital which broke down sometime back. As part of his corporate social responsibility, he also sunk a borehole and built a water kiosk, the first of its kind in Chongwe.
This kiosk will reduce the distance our women used to walk to fetch water but also gives them the chance to have clean water which is scarce in Chongwe.
It is from this that I write to salute Mr Nyambose for the good gesture and at the same time appeal to other businessmen and women to emulate him by helping the community.
Chongwe District Hospital and Chongwe Rural Health Centre have no mothers’ shelter.
These medical institutions need help, too, from the local business community.
Chongwe bus station has no shelter and forces bus operators to pick passengers from shop corridors in the rainy season.
God bless Chongwe
