N/Western grid connection good

ZESCO Limited says the connection of the entire North-Western Province to the national electricity grid has presented opportunities to revamp the pineapple factory and related agro-processing plants in the area.
And Zesco Limited director of commercial and customer services Chiti Mataka has warned of increased load-shedding if consumers do not minimise electricity consumption in the cold season.
Initially, only Solwezi and Kasempa were connected to the grid but following the acquisition of a US$165 million financing package from Stanbic Bank and the Swedish Export Credit Agency, the rest of the districts that were powered by diesel generators were switched on to electricity last year.
During a customer day in Solwezi last Friday, Mr Mataka said the development will ensure a guaranteed sustenance of investments.
