NORTH-WESTERN Province permanent secretary Ephraim Mateyo says there is need to attract more investments into the region to create jobs and
wealth for the local people.
Mr Mateyo said the province is endowed with abundant natural resources which have not been fully exploited.
He said the provincial administration is eager to see more investors getting into the region to set up industries to enhance the industrialisation strategy and job creation for the local people.
“We would like to see many investors coming to invest in this province because at the end of the day the beneficiaries are ourselves the people here,” Mr Mateyo said.
He said this when North-Western Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Josephine Makondo called on him at his office recently.
Mr Mateyo urged the chamber of commerce to help market the region’s investment potential to investors to help accelerate development.
And Ms Makondo said her organisation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry, is organising a business expo slated for October this year in an effort to bring together various stakeholders to identify the available investment potential in each district of the province.
“With the many opportunities that we have in North-Western Province, there is need to have an expo,” Ms Makondo said.
She said all the districts in the province have a unique economic advantage, hence the need to hold the business expo to identify and exploit the investment potential of the region.
