COACH Mumamba Numba says Zanaco are not intimidated with Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca’s impressive
home record ahead of Saturday’s CAF Champions League Group D match.
Numba said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that Zanaco are travelling to Casablanca to secure qualification to the quarter-finals.
“We are not intimidated with the fact that Wydad is a difficult team to beat at their home ground. If that is the case, then we have no choice but to break their record.
“Football is changing almost every day. The game of yesterday cannot be compared to that of today. Competition is very high, I believe in ourselves and I know that we can do it, nothing can stop us,” he said.
Zanaco lead the group with 11 points, two better than Wydad, Egyptian giants Al Ahly have eight points while Cameroonian side Coton Sport have zero.
Numba said his charges know what is stake and will be equal to the task.
“We are not going there to compete and give our friends free points. We are on business…we will be in Morocco for business. We want to compete and ensure that we come out of the match with positive results,” he said.
He said Wydad will underrate Zanaco at their own peril.
Zanaco beat Wydad 1-0 courtesy of midfielder Ernest Mbewe’s strike in Lusaka on May 24.
Zanaco were expected to leave for Morocco last evening.
