NTEs rise to K3.97 billion

ZAMBIA has recorded an increase in non-traditional exports (NTEs) earnings by 1.4 percent to K3.97 billion in October from K3.91 billion in September.
This is attributed to the rise in non-agricultural products exports.
The non-agricultural products exported comprise precious stones (rubies and sapphires) which accounted for 13.6 percent, Portland cement at 8.1 percent and non-alcoholic beverages at 7.7 percent.
Zambia Statistics Agency interim statistician general Mulenga Musepa said non-agricultural products accounted for 72.7 percent of NTEs in October compared to 72.1 percent recorded in September.
