NSCZ nullifies ZHA AGM

DIANA MUTAKAFIMBO, Lusaka
THE National Sports Council of Zambia (NSCZ) has nullified the Zambia Hockey Association (ZHA) elective annual general meeting held on February 20 for failure to adhere to regulations.
The council has since directed ZHA to set another date for its elective AGM within a month.
The ZHA ushered in a new executive during elections held at Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) in Lusaka, where president Hazel Kennedy retained her position unopposed while Valentine Ziba was elected general secretary.
NSCZ acting general secretary Emmanuel Chitembo said in a statement issued in Lusaka yesterday that all decisions made during the AGM have been nullified.
“We have nullified the elections of the Zambia Hockey Association held on February 20, 2016. This is due to failure on the part of the Zambia Hockey Association to follow the laid down procedure when conducting an annual general meeting,” Chitembo said.
He said it is mandatory for all sports associations to officially notify NSCZ whenever they are holding AGMs be it elective or non-elective.
Chitembo said AGMs are supposed to be supervised by the council, contrary to what ZHA did.
“To that effect the Council has directed the Zambia Hockey Association to set another date for their elective annual general meeting which should be held within the next four weeks. The Zambia Hockey Association should follow the mandatory laid down procedure,” he said.
