NSCZ in Chinese Embassy donation

ALEX NJOVU, Lusaka
THE Chinese Embassy has donated six computers and six printers to the National Sports Council of Zambia (NSCZ).
The equipment is intended to be used by sports associations which are housed at National Sports Development Centre (NASDEC).
The Zambia Basketball Association and Badminton Zambia among others operate at NASDEC.
Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Yang Youming’s representative Pan Qingjiang said at a briefing in Lusaka yesterday that the embassy is keen to support sports development in the country.
“It is for this reason that the embassy will always come in and assist where possible to ensure that there is sports development in the country,” Pan said.
And NSCZ board chairperson Mwamba Kalenga said the equipment will go a long way in developing sport in the country.
“We are happy that the Chinese Embassy has responded to our cause. We, therefore, wish to thank the Chinese Embassy for donating six computers and six printers,” he said.
Kalenga urged the affiliates to use the equipment effectively and guard them generously.
“Utilisation of these computers and printers will surely ease your work as sports administrators,” he said.
Kalenga also described the performance of affiliates this year as average.
He urged associations to embark on talent identification programmes next year.
“Our vision next year and beyond is to start seeing associations putting up vigorous talent identification programmes as part of their strategic plans. This should be carried out in all the far-flung areas of the 10 provinces of Zambia,” Kalenga said.
