NSCZ board member quits

ROBINSON KUNDA, Lusaka
NATIONAL Sports Council of Zambia (NSCZ) board member Deirdre Allison has resigned her position citing personal commitments.
NSCZ acting general secretary Innocent Chalabesa said in Lusaka yesterday that Allison tendered in her resignation letter last week.
“We received the resignation letter from her last week. There are two big horse tournaments that are coming up and she will need to run up and down to organise things…so she wants enough time,” Chalabesa said.
He said Allison has a lot of roles in the Zambia Horse Society and it is only fair that she is given enough time to organise the forthcoming tournaments.
He said the NSCZ is yet to decide on who will replace Allison and late board member Ian Mbewe.
Chalabesa, however, said a decision will be made whether elections for the two vacant positions will be held during the annual general meeting set for November 27 at Government Complex in Lusaka.
Both Allison and Mbewe were among the seven elected board members.
Others are Smart Mwitwa, Matilda Mwaba, Chabby Chondoka, Emmanuel Katebe and Joseph Silwamba.
Meanwhile, NSCZ board chairperson Mwamba Kalenga was on Tuesday admitted to Mum’s Care Clinic in Lusaka after he was diagnosed with low blood pressure.
