MWAPE MWENYA, Lusaka
CHIEF Kanyama of the Lunda people in Mwinilunga district has given 15 hectares of land to women fish farmers in his chiefdom
Speaking on behalf of other beneficiaries, Mirriam Sambaulu of Munwa village said the land has helped many women venture into fishing and gardening projects.
“I have three ponds with more than 3,000 fish and a vegetable garden, when I harvest I will sell my produce to neighbouring villages and use the money realised to pay for my children`s school fees and also take care of other basic needs,” Ms Sambaulu said.
She said women opted for fish farming and gardening to enhance the nutrition value at household level and in communities at large.
