Letter to the Editor

No knife is used for medical male circumcision

Dear editor,
I AM an advocate and provider of Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) and a member of the technical working group in Zambia.

I would like to salute Zambia Daily Mail for highlighting issues of VMMC in Zambia and on the Copperbelt in particular. However, the article published on Saturday, July 8, 2017 entitled ‘Over 31,000 men under the knife’ is not only eye-catching but misleading as well.

Melody Mupeta should have researched a bit more on the title of her article.
You may wish to know that no knife is used to conduct medical circumcision.
The headline used has potential to send shivers to naive men who are grappling with indecision and fear.
However, you may wish to know that we now have non-surgical procedures.
UNCLE SAM
