LINDA NYONDO, Lusaka
CHIEF Chamuka of Central Province has declared that no girl-child in his chiefdom will get married unless there is production of a birth certificate to ascertain her age.
The traditional leader said parents who intend to marry off their children will be required to produce an under-five card or birth certificate.
He also said that some parents withdraw their children from school because they do not realise the benefit of education.
Chief Chamuka called on Government to speed up the process of revising the minimum marriage age to protect vulnerable girls from being married off at a tender age.
He said all children have the right to education regardless of their status in society.
