Nkumbi students riot, sent packing

STUDENTS in non-examination classes at Nkumbi International College in Mkushi district have been sent home after some learners ran amok and destroyed windowpanes at houses of the principal and his deputy on Wednesday.
Central Province permanent secretary Edwidge Mutale and Mkushi district commissioner Luke Mwamba confirmed the development yesterday, adding that the police picked up six male and four female students in connection with the confusions at the college.
The students were allegedly protesting against the shortage of lecturers and lack of furniture at their institution.  Ms Mutale said there were also reports that some students had bought fuel which they wanted to use to burn some strategic infrastructure at the college.
Ms Mutale said those students who will be breaking the law will either be put on suspension or expelled.
