Nkana Queens, Zanama back Simwanza

ALEX NJOVU, Lusaka
NKANA Queens chairman Kelvin Chipili has called on Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) executive committee member Pivoty Simwanza to run for the vice-presidency at the elective annual general meeting.
But Simwanza said he will announce the position he will be vying for at the March 19 polls at an appropriate time.
Chipili said from Kitwe yesterday that Simwanza is a good administrator.
“Councillors on the Copperbelt and other parts of the country want Pivoty Simwanza to stand as vice-president. In fact, I can confirm that he is standing and he is going to win without problems,” he said.
Chipili said Simwanza is a hardworking man who has the interest of vulnerable clubs.
And Zanama B Rovers chairman Elvis Nkandu said councillors want Simwanza to be Kalusha Bwalya’s deputy.
“Pivoty Simwanza is not new to most clubs in Zambia. With or without elections, Simwanza is always with us. He has helped almost every club in Zambia with a lot of things in the past,” Nkandu said.
He said Simwanza is an accomplished football administrator.
“The position of vice-president is too sensitise. It needs someone who is mature and focused and connected with the councillors at the grassroot. Simwanza has played a very good role in the development of football in Zambia and this is the time that we councillors should support him, he needs our support,” Nkandu said.
Others vying for the vice-presidency are FAZ executive committee member Richard Kazala and Lusaka Dynamos chairman Mofya Chisala among others.
