Nkana face Tigers in pre-season clash

NKANA’s preparations for the 2016 season will get into gear today when they take on Super Division side Lusaka Tigers in a four-club tournament at Nkoloma Stadium.
And organising committee chairperson Chileshe Kandeta said arrangements for staging of the tournament have been finalised.
Nkana coach Aggrey Chiyangi said in an interview yesterday that the technical bench will use the tournament to build the team’s confidence ahead of the 2016 season.
“For us, it is a building process, we are building up to the league.
“Nkana is a big team with a huge following so, we need to be fully ready to play to the expectation of our supporters and that is what we are looking at,” Chiyangi said.
Last season, Nkana, the 12-time Super Division kings, finished eighth on the log with 41 points, 26 behind champions Zesco United.
Chiyangi will also assess new players that have joined Nkana.
For Tigers, this tournament will give them a feel of what to expect in the Super Division.
Tigers last featured in the elite league in 1999.
The other fixture will see Division One outfit City of Lusaka facing Napsa Stars in an early Kick-off.
The winners will play in the final tomorrow while the losers will battle it out for the third place.
Meanwhile, Kandeta said gate takings will be donated to Cheshire Home for the Aged.
