Night travel ban has impact on economic and social life

Dear editor,
REFERENCE is made to the article in your paper of Monday December 5, 2016 regarding the need for a 50/50 consensus between Government and public transport operators.
Before such laws are passed due consideration ought to be made regarding the economic and social impact of such unilateral moves.
Businesses will suffer losses, consumers will be inconvenienced and the country’s economy will be negatively impacted. Those affected are mostly from rural areas away from the line of rail which perhaps Zambia Railways could serve through overnight trains.
The alternative would be for RTSA to strictly police the highways to enforce compliance with regulations while operators are allowed to do business.
