New year, new hopes

YOUTHFUL LIVING with PASTOR MOYO M
WHAT is your hope as you celebrate New Year? Is your celebration based only on the fact that you have the privilege of entering a new year?
What are your opportunities, hopes and aspirations in this new year? The celebration of New Year is not enough if you do not have projections that give you hope and inspiration towards success in the remaining 364 days of the year.
It is important to resolve the level of quality and quantity of this year’s productivity for it to fit the description of being a successful year.
There are many ways we can attain success in a new year. However, one of the things we can do to live successfully in the new year is by revisiting, awakening or re-living the potential within us.
We are richly endowed with potential in form of talents, gifts or abilities to create ideas and innovations.
It is possible there are brilliant ideas that we created but never actualised in the previous year. In fact, we gave up on them.
Celebrating New Year presents the opportunity to consider the possibilities of enlivening what has been lying idle within us.
Norman Cousin says: “The tragedy of life is not death but that which we let die inside us while we live.” This quotation supposes that no human being is empty.
Though some claim that they do not have anything to do, all of us can find something to do by bringing to life and utilising what is within us. We all possess something that we have to enliven and utilise for us to live dignified lives.
Jeremiah 29:4-5 says: “This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says to all those I carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon: Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce.”
This was an encouragement to those who stopped making headways because they were in exile. God was calling them to awaken their abilities so that they can prosper in a seemingly hostile environment.
This means there was hope in the midst of hostility. New Year gives us new hope, hence the need to bring to life your potentials for your own progress in life.
