New refugee camp gets $6.6 million

THE United Nations (UN) Central Emergency Relief Fund has approved a US$6.6 million funding for the establishment of the Mantapala Refugee Settlement in Luapula Province.

Minister of Home Affairs Stephen Kampyongo briefed journalists yesterday that the funding will enable a number of UN agencies in Zambia to undertake various projects to support the opening of the Mantapala Refugee Settlement.
Mr Kampyongo said the UN agencies which will undertake the projects are the United Nations Children’s Fund, United Nations Population Fund and United Nations High Commission for Refugees.
