Ndola Squash Club recruits 16 juniors

NDOLA Squash Club has recruited 16 junior players to supplement the Zambia Squash Association (ZSA) effort in establishing a strong foundation.
Ndola Squash Club chairperson Model Kanyimbo said in an interview on Monday that the recruitment is bearing fruits.
The junior players were recruited last year.
Kanyimbo said the club is targeting to recruit 20 to 40 junior players before the end of the year.
“We are recruiting junior players from the age of six and above so that we can have a strong foundation for the selection of national team players for junior and senior teams.
“We have so far recruited about 16 junior players. The move to incorporate the young ones into the sport will help keep them away from various activities during school holidays,” Kanyimbo said.
He is impressed with the commitment of the junior players.
Kanyimbo commended the Norena Chiteba-led ZSA executive for the support the association has rendered to the club.
He said the rackets the association donated to the club helped in the promotion of squash.
Meanwhile, Buildcon Investment Limited has adopted one of the three courts at Ndola Squash Club, which it will upgrade to international standards.
Kanyimbo, however, did not disclose how much will be spent on the renovation of the court.
