Ndola civil servants reshuffled

NKOLE MULAMBIA, Ndola
GOVERNMENT has reshuffled civil servants in Ndola district to improve public service performance, permanent secretary Elias Kamanga has said.
He has also appealed to the Public Service Commission to unfreeze over 100 positions in the province to help beef up staff.
He said the rotation of the civil servants was effected last month starting with the provincial administration in Ndola.
“In line with President Lungu’s vision to re-energise the civil service, we have since made a number of recommendations and some of them have since been acted upon,” he said.
Mr Kamanga said this when a delegation from the Public Service Commission paid a courtesy call on him in Ndola yesterday.
He said the transfers of civil servants are also in line with aspirations and visions of Government not to condone poor working attitudes.
“We have since transferred and rotated a number of human resource officers in the province, almost everyone in the province. We have also moved other officers starting from the provincial administration,” he said.
Mr Kamanga said Government would in the next few days or weeks move to other districts to make more changes.
Meanwhile, Mr Kamanga says the positions which have been frozen because of delays in notifications to the commission resulting in the Ministry of Finance closing the payroll needed to be unfrozen.
He called for serious reorientation of civil servants to help them know the basics of public service.
And Public Service Commissioner Beatrice Nyirongo said the commission has embarked on a sensitisation programme for the public service across the country on the commencement order which was signed recently.
