NAZ selects 14 players

THE Netball Association of Zambia (NAZ) has selected 14 players ahead of the Africa Champions Netball tournament in Uganda.
NAZ technical committee chairperson Martha Sichone said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that the tournament is aimed at improving the team’s global ranking.
The tournament is billed for June 24-30 in Kampala.
Sichone has implored players to strive to win the continental championship.
“Our target is to emerge winners of this tournament. We are currently ranked number 15 in the world. Our aim is to be among the top 12 in the world which will qualify us to the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia,” she said.
Sichone said the Charles Zulu-led technical bench will prepare adequately for the 15-nation tournament.
Others competing in the tournament are Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia, Nigeria, Uganda, Seychelles, Swaziland, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
The team comprises Juliet Kaputeni, Leny Seya, Bessiya Katete, Tina Saikolo, Yvonne Kaholo, Dorcus Musolo and Gift Bunga.
Others are Beauty Nakazwe, Naomi Changwe, Orient Mwanza, Rhoda Zulu, Lucy Jere, Elizabeth Bwalya and Helen Banda.
The Zambian queens last year won gold at the Mission Foods Invitation Championship in Singapore.
